Diversification

A correctly designed asset allocation provides diversification. Our portfolios include a variety of asset classes, including global stocks and bonds, private equity, alternative hedging strategies, commodities, and real estate. Within those asset classes, we employ world class managers on your behalf to select literally thousands of different public securities, and in some cases, private partnerships. This high level of diversification provides important risk management. In a portfolio without proper diversification, the failure of a single security can cause hazardous results.

Rebalancing

We blend these asset classes scientifically to reduce volatility while targeting returns that meet your goals. We then rebalance the asset allocation – the discipline of trimming a “hot” asset class (like tech stocks circa 2001) or buying a “cold” asset class (like all stocks in early 2009.) This is the true art of asset allocation - avoiding the temptation to invest with our emotions rather than our intellect.
